Terrence LeVarr Thornton, popularly and Professionally known by his stage name “Pusha T,” is one of the most talented and successful American rappers and record executives. He rose to prominence as one half of the hip hop duo Clipse, mainly active from 1994 to 2010, alongside his older brother No Malice. After releasing their third album, Pusha T and Malice stated Clipse would be on indefinite sabbatical so the brothers could focus on their respective projects. Shortly after this, Pusha T was signed to Kanye West’s GOOD Music label in September 2010 and made his first appearances as a member of the Good roster on Kanye West’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, appearing on his hit “Runaway” and premiering the song with him at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards on September 12, 2010.

He was also featured on multiple tracks from West’s GOOD Fridays series and had other cameos on Swizz Beatz’s Monster Mondays series, Lloyd Banks’ H.F.M. 2 (Hunger for More 2), and Tabi Bonney’s Fresh, respectively. On December 16, 2010, Pusha T and N.U.E. Agency agreed to work exclusively as his management team. On February 11, 2011, Funkmaster Flex launched Pusha T’s debut solo track on New York City’s Hot 97. The track, titled “My God,” was produced by Hit-Boy and was generally favorably received by the public. Soon after, the music slipped into the internet; however was not officially released on iTunes and Amazon until August 24, 2011. On August 31, 2011, it was revealed Pusha had inked a solo album contract with Def Jam. The E.P. was originally supposed to be published on June 21, 2011; however, it was put back to August 23, and for a while, September 27 was assumed to be the date, but after it came and went, on October 6, 2011, Pusha T stated the E.P. was set to be released on November 8, 2011. In addition, it was revealed he had added four more songs to the E.P., bringing it to 12 tracks in total. Considered a re-release of the initial Fear of God, it was launched on November 8, 2011, and was positively received by critics.

On April 19, 2018, Kanye West revealed on his Twitter page that Pusha T’s King Push album would be released on May 25, 2018. On May 23, 2018, Pusha T stated on his Twitter page that he altered the album title from King Push to Daytona. When West paid $85,000 for the album’s cover image—a picture of Whitney Houston’s drug-filled bathroom taken at her Atlanta, Georgia, home in 2006—it sparked outrage. Pusha T alleges that she disagreed with the sum West paid for the image and the criticism over the album cover’s content. Daytona was released on May 25, 2018, to positive reviews. It garnered a “universal acclaim” score of 86 on Metacritic.

For his efforts on Daytona and his diss track “The Story of Adidon,” he was subsequently crowned the “Best Rapper Alive” by Complex for 2018. Hip-hop legends Nas and P. Diddy praised the album as “a classic album” and “a modern-day masterpiece.” Pusha T launched Heir Wave Media Group, a new record label, in February 2020 to discover and promote musicians from the Virginia region. He continued to serve as the company’s president while concentrating on assembling a roster of musicians from his native state. Pusha highlighted his aim to find “album artists” who weave greater tales into their projects as the motivation behind starting the label.

The Heir Wave Work YouTube channel and a weekly radio show on 103 Jamz FM in the area invited local musicians to submit their music. Heir Wave Music signed Kahri 1k, Shaolinn, Leeto, and WhyNotDuce during the first year of the label’s existence. Pusha T’s fourth studio album, It’s Almost Dry, produced by Kanye West and 88-Keys, featured the lead single, “Diet Coke,” made available on February 7, 2022. The next day, Omar Jones, who also helmed Craig Mack’s Flava in Ya Ear (Remix)” music video, unveiled the music video for the single, which portrays Pusha T and West moving around over a white background.

Later, 88-Keys admitted that the beat for the record was created on a beat tape called The Makings of Crack Cocaine, released 18 years before the song. The single “Hear Me Clearly” by Pusha T and Nigo was made available on March 4 for Nigo’s album I Know Nigo! The song is also scheduled to appear on It’s Almost Dry. He also appeared as Clipse with his brother No Malice on the I Know Nigo! album’s song “Punch Bowl.” On March 30, the “Hear Me Clearlymusic “video was available. Pusha T made an appearance in an Arby commercial on the 21st of the same month, performing the diss track “Spicy Fish Diss,” directed at McDonald’s for selling the Fillet-O-Fish sandwich and claiming that Arby’s Fish Sandwich is superior.

Pusha T released “Neck & Wrist,” the third single from It’s Almost Dry, on April 6 and would later participate in an interview with Charlamagne Tha God, which was made available on April 11. Pusha T announced the release date of It’s Almost Dry as April 22 and a listening event called “Cokechella” in New York City on the 18th. The eagerly anticipated album, produced by Pharrell and Ye and featured, among others, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Lil Uzi Vert, Nigo, and his brother No Malice, was made public on April 22.
