Rasheeda began her musical career as a member of the Da Kaperz, a female hip-hop duo that rose to prominence in Atlanta, Georgia, in 1998. She began her solo career in the year 2000.
D-Lo & Motown Records released her debut album, Dirty South, on March 27, 2001. Pastor Troy, Thugz Nation, Nelly, and Re-Re made the album’s cameos. Due to the success of her first single, “Do It,” the album gained some popularity. Rasheeda’s album Dirty South would categorize her as a southern hip-hop artist. After leaving Motown Records, Rasheeda developed her sound with her second album, A Ghetto Dream, released independently in 2002 under her label D-Lo. A Ghetto Dream contains Lil’ Jon and the Eastside Boyz, as well as faster rhythms and bolder sounds. Rasheeda was featured on Petey Pablo’s “Vibrate” and Nivea’s “You Like It Like That” singles in 2004.
Rasheeda’s fourth album, Dat Type of Gurl, was released on June 19, 2007. Due to the success of her debut single off the album, “Got That Good (My Bubble Gum),” which was first featured on GA Peach, the album received much attention. Rasheeda released her fifth album, Certified Hot Chick, on August 18, 2009. Later, she began releasing mixtapes under the Boss Bitch Music moniker.
Her sixth album, Boss Chick Music, was released on June 18, 2012, on Google Play and her company D-Lo Entertainment and was promoted on the tenth season of Bad Girls Club: Atlanta and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. “Marry Me” was her first single from the album, and “Legs to the Moon” was her second, both of which were accompanied by a music video. Rasheeda shot a music video for “Hit It From The Back” in 2013, during the second season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta. Rasheeda released a new song named “I Meant It” on the fourth season of Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta in 2015, claiming that the album for the song could be her final release.
