As the first single from his next album, Budden debuted “Pump It Up” on May 8, 2003. A commercial triumph, the Just Blaze-produced single peaked at No. 16 on the U.S. Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 18 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay chart. The song’s top positions on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 chart, the Hot Rap Songs chart, and the Radio Songs chart were No. 38, No. 10, and No. 39, respectively. The song was also included on the soundtracks of popular motion pictures like 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), and You Got Served (2004), as well as the video games Madden N.F.L. 2004, Def Jam Vendetta, and Def Jam Fight for N.Y., in which Budden had an appearance as a playable character.
